Adding your school’s schedule

Make your planner even more useful by adding special days, rotating days and class schedules to Studyo Go.

Studyo Go focuses on helping students and teachers get things done. Over the years, we've learned that planning is best done in the context of the overall school schedule . Say a student has to study for a test. Seeing when a holiday occurs before that test, or realizing they have an important personal event the weekend before the test may give them a different sense of when to start studying.

Teachers get the benefit of seeing their class schedule when posting items to their students. They can pinpoint exactly on which days each section meets and post any assignment or test date on exactly the right day without having to refer to multiple documents and schedules.

By entering the few major holidays and off-days in your planner, as well as entering your class schedules, everything you need to do will seem so much clearer. You will always know where to go and what to work on next.

Let's see how you can add this information quickly to your Studyo Go planner:

Creating a school schedule

  1. Select "Settings" from the sidebar

This will display all of Studyo Go's settings.

2. Click on Schedules

This brings you to where you can add your school schedule.

3. Click on Create your schedule

4. Name your school schedule

This is usually the current school year.

5. Click Next, then select your school's start and end dates as well as the schedule type

Studyo Go supports any kind of schedule, from a simple "Every week is the same" schedule to a full rotating days schedule (numbered days which rotate in sequence)

6. Click Next, then click Create

There you go, your schedule is in place. You can tweak any of the settings if you need to and are now ready to enter your Calendar information.

Adding your calendar’s holidays and special days

It is important to enter holidays so that you can see each day is it should be.

  1. Click on Calendar

This displays your complete Calendar and allows you to create days with special icons and titles.

Each special day can affect your schedule by not having classes, applying a special schedule of class periods (bells) or shifting your classes to the next day.

2. Add a special day for holidays

Click the plus (+) sign in the top right and use the following settings as relevant.

3. Click on any date where a Holiday occurs

This will display any Special day applied to this day as well as a Plus (+) sign next to each defined Special day so you can add it to that day.

You can apply Special days to specific dates, A specific rotating day or a day of the week as required.

Bell times in Special day definitions

You can apply specific Bell times (the times where periods or blocks start and end) to special days, days of the week or days of the cycle to suit your school's schedule.

This is how you can set up a schedule that has numbered days, but every Friday has different periods times, although the day rotates (sometimes it could be a day 1 set of classes, or sometimes another number such as 7 or 9).

Master Schedule

The simplest way to set up all your classes is to use the Master Schedule. It shows every day of your week or cycle with the classes occurring on each day.

If you use a variety of bell times in your schedule, please refer to the article on setting bell time exceptions.

1. Click on Master Schedule

This displays your week(s) or rotating days in sequence.

2. Click where your first class of a typical week should start

Say you start at 8:30 AM with Math on Days #1 (or Mondays, or every second Monday, etc...) click around the 8:30 mark

This defines Period 1 of the day and the time might not be what you need, so change it appropriately. We want it to be from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM.

3. Set the appropriate Time

You can enter a time using the keyboard or click on the clock.

4. Set the appropriate Class

Under the "No classes" popup, pick the right class.

Not seeing any classes? Make sure you have Connected Google Classroom as a student or teacher.

You can also define classes manually by going to the Classes settings.

5. Save

Notice each day of your schedule now also has a period at that time. If this is not how your schedule works and some days are different, no need to make these adjustments now. If you try to change one day, it will change all period times.

6. Repeat for all your classes

If a period is already defined, click on it to set the class. If not, click next to the appropriate time to create one.

7. Click on "Publish Changes"

This posts all your changes to your planner.

Extra tips

Classes don't have to be school-related. You can create Classes for yourself, such as study hall, lunch, before school or after school. They can even be sports or arts you practice outside of school. You can set these up in the Classes sections where you will see any Google Classrooms you are enrolled in, and any personal classes you have defined.
